Tattooing is a rich and varied artform, and each practitioner has a unique way of working.

I have honed my professional process over 20 years, and settled on a way that works well for myself and my clients.

In the age of instant tech and repeatable designs, I work in a slightly different way.

I conduct consultations with each client, always at the beginning of our working relationship, and often for new pieces as time goes on.

Here is a little bit of information about the hows and the whys of my booking process.

INITIAL CONTACT

The internet and media are saturated with millions of images of tattoos nowadays. So, how does one choose an artist?

Firstly, do you like what I do?

Do the images you see of my work resonate with you in some way? Do you like the visual impact, the way you feel when you see them? I like to make more than just an image; I make a representation of the wearer, of their style and their story.

Do you like what I have to say? The way I word things? The things I portray through my online presence?

A tattoo isn’t just an image on skin, it’s an indelible experience, etched onto the body and mind.

If the answer is ‘yes’, then I may be the artist for you.

If the answer is ‘yes’, then let me explain the process…

One on one consultations are the starting point of the tattoo journey.

WHY CONSULTATIONS?

I like to value all of my clients as individuals. I am making the tattoos for you, not just for me.

I think it is vital to meet one another at the very start of your tattoo journey, to get a feel for the process ahead.

A consultation is a short appointment of 30 minutes. We can conduct it via Zoom, or in person at Un1ty tattoo in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

It is our opportunity to ask and answer questions. Bring all of your thoughts to your consultation- nothing is a silly question!

My clients are of all ages and backgrounds; some are seasoned tattoos, and for many it is their first foray.

In the consultation, we discuss your ideas, requirements and concepts for the tattoo. We share information and ideas about what will work best, what will look good, and how we go about making this happen. My waiting list varies, but usually we can get started within a few months of the initial consultation.

We discuss design concepts thoroughly, and the majority of my work is performed freehand; so drawn onto the skin directly before being tattooed. You can read more about this here- https://www.annaadorned.com/blog .

The consultation helps us both to get a feel for the piece that I will make for you, as well as explaining cost, time frame estimates and booking availability. We can also talk about the tattoo process, healing, and help put your mind at rest with any concerns or fears.

“Will it hurt? How long will it take to heal? What do I need to do to look after it? How long is the waiting list?“

I host consultation days once per month. For updates on dates, sign up to the mailing list on my website. A tattoo consultation with me costs £15 and you can book online via- calendly.com/annagarveytattoos , or via my website at www.annaadorned.com

I look forward to hearing your ideas soon!
